What’s up? Thanks for tapping in! I’m JaySin Matlock the curator of this site. At the age of 33, on July 14th 2021 I started my Jiu Jitsu journey. I started training Jiu Jitsu, and martial arts and I haven’t looked back. I have competed in multiple competitions and have placed 1st in almost all of them. Like most who step onto the mat, I fell in love. It was like everything I had been missing in life just clicked. My only goal is to become someone that doesn’t get their ass kick.

I understand the challenges and insecurities that can arise when stepping into the world of martial arts, and jiu jitsu, especially as an adult. That’s why I created this site to share my personal journey, insights, and experiences in the hopes that my struggles and fears help you realize that you just have to believe in yourself and the world can be yours. Through My Jiu Jitsu Academia, I aim to inspire and guide others who, like me, have decided to stop living in fear and take a chance. Especially for those who have decided later in life. I want to emphasize that age is not a barrier to success in this sport or in life. Whether you’re in your twenties, thirties, or beyond, you have the potential to become a skilled and successful, even at a martial art like Jiu Jitsu.

On this platform, I will share my personal anecdotes, valuable insights, and practical tips that I’ve collected along my journey. I’ll dive deep into the mental and physical aspects of the sport, offering guidance on building confidence, overcoming challenges, and developing the skills necessary to excel in jiu jitsu.
